I was born and brought up in the wonderful country of Tajikistan. Growing up in Tajikistan as a young girl I learned how to dress stylishly and uniquely as I was inspired by so many beautiful Tajik women who love to look gorgeous and glamorous. As part of this, I have always been passionate about the Ikat design which is made in my country and worn by women everywhere from the countryside to the cities.
I have always tried to be bold and innovative, and I grew up challenging and breaking stereotypes about the role and rights of girls and women in our conservative and patriarchal society. When I was a teenager (just after the collapse of the Soviet Union) I left Tajikistan for the first time and spent a year in a High School in the US (in Trenton, Illinois). Since then I have been lucky to have lots of great experiences studying and working abroad in various countries (including Hungary, Costa Rica and Thailand), About 8 years ago I met an amazing Englishman who I ended up marrying and now I'm living in the UK!
I feel so lucky with all the things I have done so far in my life, but I know that all that I have achieved is because of my wonderful Mother whose name was Salomat. She gave me the strength, freedom and support/encouragement to do what I wanted in my life, even though this was not usual in my culture (to grant so much freedom to a girl). I honour her everyday and dedicate my social business to her!
I love You, Buvajon!
